Community Catalysts Project extended in Bedford Borough

A scheme which helps local people to create and run small, sustainable enterprises which aid older adults and those with disabilities has been extended.

Community Catalysts Bedford Borough helps small ventures, known as community micro-enterprises. These enterprises can offer anything from personal care services in people’s homes, community activities and groups, companionship and wellness support. It is being supported by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) and Bedford Borough Council.

If you’re already offering services like these, or are thinking about starting something new, there’s tailored help available to guide you every step of the way.

Explore the new Bedford Borough Small Good Stuff Directory , where you’ll find local services that support people in their homes and communities. It’s also a hub for those who want to showcase their own enterprise and join a vibrant, caring local network.

Fortnightly Zoom information sessions take place on Tuesdays at 11am, on September 30, and October 14 and 28. Book your place here Meeting Registration - Zoom

Or you can attend in person for a drop-in session on Tuesday 7 October from 9.30am-midday at King's House, Ampthill Road, Bedford.

Whether you're just starting out or already running a micro-enterprise, these friendly online sessions offer practical guidance to help you succeed. Community Catalysts will walk you through how to set up your enterprise legally, safely, and professionally covering key regulations and legislation that may apply to your service.

Councillor Andrea Spice, Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth, Planning and Prosperity, said; “These community micro-enterprises can play a crucial role in our care economy, and we’re determined that they should get the tailored advice and support that they deserve.  If this is something you already do, or that you’d like to move into, we can help you to take the next step to build a safe, sustainable enterprise that makes a real difference.”
