Bedford Borough Council Providing Free Taxi Rides for COVID Jabs
News

Cost of travel and ease of access can be a barrier to people and the Council is working to make it as easy as possible for people to get their COVID-19vaccination.

People can book their vaccination via the NHS booking system at www.nhs.uk/covidvaccine, or go to a drop-in centre in Bedford Borough including Bedford Heights or a number of local pharmacies. You can see an up-to-date list of drop in centres at www.blmkccg.nhs.uk/drop-in

To get your free taxi ride, you just need to call one of the taxi operators from the list available at www.bedford.gov.uk/VaxiTaxi, give them the reference BBC VACCINE, and let them know where you need to be picked up and dropped off.

You will not be asked to pay anything as long as your journey is from a Bedford Borough address, and is going to or from a Bedford Borough vaccination site.

Cllr Louise Jackson, Portfolio Holder for Public Health said “We know there are people who want to get vaccinated who haven’t been able to yet. With our new vaccine taxi service, we are trying to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get their life-saving COVID-19 jab.

“More than three-quarters of Bedford Borough’s over 16s have already had their first COVID-19 vaccination. Join them and help us all get back to the things we love.”
