As part of National Cemeteries Week, two specially themed guided walks will shine a light on some of Bedford’s remarkable women whose stories deserve to be remembered.
Notable Women – led by Anni - This walk explores the lives of pioneering, influential and inspiring women buried within the cemetery. From philanthropists and artists to campaigners and community figures, discover the quieter yet powerful legacies of women who helped shape Bedford and beyond.
A Woman’s Work? – led by Adrian - Contrasting society’s historic expectations of women with the extraordinary achievements of those laid to rest here, this walk highlights women of courage, creativity and determination. Hear uplifting and moving stories of inspirational figures including Danuta, Pearl and Elizabeth.
Refreshments will be available after the walks. Please meet at the Chapel 10 minutes before the start. The walks are free, although donations to the Friends are always welcome. The Chapel, Foster Hill Road, Bedford, MK41 7TD
