Bedford Borough Council announces spooktacular activities for October half term

Get ready for a frightfully fun half term with Bedford Borough Council. This October, there is a jam-packed schedule of activities guaranteed to keep families entertained.

Creative Fun at TheHiggins Bedford and Bedford Borough Libraries

The Higgins Bedford is hosting a series of exciting craft workshops for children aged five to twelve. Join local artist Katie Allen and make a monster collage, create your own wizard wand with Creative Days, or sculpt a spooky clay pumpkin tealight holder – perfect for Halloween!

These workshops are £5.50 per child and must be booked in advance on The Higgins Bedford website https://www.thehigginsbedford.org.uk/Whats_on/Family_Events.aspx  

There are also free family activities at The Higgins Bedford that include Sunday Crafternoons, Puggle Club for the under-fives and Toby’s Tall Tales visits the gallery with immersive storytelling for children under seven.

Family Hub Fun:

A Family Hubs Festival is planned in Harpur Square on Wednesday 30 October, 10am-3pm. This will be a celebration of all things Family Hubs and a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the services offered by this team. The new Family Hubs website will also be launching, it has been redesigned to make it even easier for local families to find the information they need when they need it.

Free Drop-In Sessions

Bedford Borough Council’s Family Hubs are offering a fantastic range of free drop-in sessions for families with young children throughout the half term. Whether you’re looking for sessions for toddlers, cruisers or younger babies, there’s something for everyone. Highlights include:

Queens Park Family Hub: Play & Learn sessions for toddlers and The Good Life Garden, a sensory garden perfect for little ones over 18 months.

Daisy Hill Children's Centre: Play & Learn sessions, Toby's Tall Tales immersive storytelling for children under seven, and Baby Brasserie providing breastfeeding support along with advice for expectant parents.

Eastcotts Children's Centre: Play & Learn sessions for cruisers who are not yet walking.

Goldington Children's Centre & Kingsbrook Children's Centre: Play & Learn sessions for toddlers.

Cherry Trees Children's Centre: Play & Learn sessions, a Young Parents Group for parents under 21, and a Baby Brasserie.

Pine Cones Children's Centre: Play & Learn sessions for toddlers and cruisers, and Baby Brasserie.

Wellbeing in the Wild: Join these Friday sessions at Queens Park Family Hub for parents of young children under one, or parents-to-be. Discover natural mindfulness, growing, arts and craft activities. These sessions are offered by Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity.
