The coronavirus pandemic and lockdown has been very challenging and people’s mental health may have been affected in various ways.
Kindness and mental health are deeply connected. Many people will be feeling lonely, isolated, stressed and anxious during this difficult period, so it’s important we do all we can to look after each other and support one another’s mental wellbeing.
Kindness has been flourishing during the lockdown, and we have seen amazing examples from Captain Tom walking for the NHS and to communities pulling together to help neighbours.
Cllr Louise Jackson Portfolio Holder for Public Health and Wellbeing said: “Looking after our mental health is just as important as our physical health.
“Being kind and receiving kindness from others can help during these difficult times by reducing isolation and stress, strengthening relationships, developing community and deepening solidarity.
“It's important to remember it is OK to feel stressed or anxious and that everyone reacts differently. Remember, this situation is temporary and, for most people, these difficult feelings will pass.”
