173 Charity Shop Helper

Recruiting people for the shop floor to help with till cover and second person cover. This involves having a good understanding of the shop floor layout and till system – very easy and basic to use. Full training provided and there is always a manager on site if any questions or problems arise. Age: 16+

As part of the coffee shop team, they will be responsible for helping serve customers visiting The Fountain and shared responsibility to make food and drinks and help keep the café clean and well looked after.

To help create a friendly, user focused environment and to ensure all visitors to the museum have the best experience possible. Responsibilities may include:- Interacting with visitors to provide information about the museum and exhibitions. Safeguarding the museum collection, helping visitors to access the museum facilities, helping visitors use the lift, staffing the reception desk, providing visitors with refreshments in the kiosk, preparing the museum for opening and closing.

231 Hospice at Home Volunteer

The volunteers visit the home of a person with a life limiting illness, give practical help and support where it’s needed and often become a friend during the illness – and beyond, if required. The amount of time given by the volunteer each week depends on the agreed needs of the individual patient. Volunteers are caring people, and allow the family/carer, to have some time to see their friends, go shopping or simply relax. All volunteers are carefully selected, undergo a full training course including communication skills, risk assessments, understanding medical needs and bereavement counselling and are managed by the Volunteers Co-ordinator.

217 Family Support – weekly family group

We are looking for volunteers to help at our Tuesday morning family support group. FACES is a support group and charity for families who do not usually access other services and sometimes have complex problems to deal with. Th e recruitment process for this post is the same as for all our volunteers – require 2 references, an enhanced DBS check and that you attend our volunteer training course.

To help screen people for low vision using Eyes Right, a simple and easy-to-use screening tool. Th e volunteer takes the volunteer through the short screening programme and give them their personalised vision report at the end and then direct people to the appropriate support

18 Skool’s Out Play Assistant

Skool’s Out “Extraordinary Activities for Extraordinary Young People” Skool’s Out Playschemes run in the school holidays. These are full days (9:30am – 3:30pm) of fun, inclusive, creative and empowering activities led by experienced staff and supported by volunteers who are all fully trained and DBS checked. Summer Playscheme runs for three weeks, Easter Playscheme runs for five days and half-term Playschemes run for two days.

163 Children’s Activities (Pre-School) Helper Flitwick

Assisting library staff to provide activities for pre-school children, particularly rhyme-time sessions, where duties include giving out rhyme sheets, taking part in singing rhymes, with associated actions, and encouraging active participation by the children and their accompanying adults. Possible occasional assistance, if volunteer agrees, at story-times at other venues, e.g. at library promotion stalls at local festivals.

94 Gardener and general maintenance

For general gardening tasks for the restoration of the gardens at Moggerhanger. These horticultural tasks will vary depending on what is needed each week based on the restoration works but will include: preparation of borders for planting, planting of trees, shrubs and herbaceous perennials, border maintenance, vegetable garden maintenance, pruning, maintenance of paths and patio pot plants, watering, and weeding. Th ere will also be opportunities to do practical handy work like for example setting up a compost area.

139 Receptionist

We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help our expansion
by joining us as a Receptionist. You should be organised, helpful, friendly, confident and able to follow procedures. Th e role will include welcoming clients, showing them around the warehouse, helping them select items that they need, processing paperwork, cash handling and till work.
