Girlguiding Bedfordshire and Wrest Park form historic partnership

Saturday 19th March saw the launch a new partnership between Girlguiding Bedfordshire and Wrest Park in Silsoe, Bedfordshire.

Some 60 girls and their leaders attended the launch which, for the first time, allowed Rainbows, Brownies and Guides from across Bedfordshire to take part in specially devised Quests.  The quest consists of two elements, a Treasure Quest and an Environmental Quest. On completion of both, a newly designed badge was awarded to the girls by The Lord Lieutenant of Bedfordshire Helen Nellis.

Ann Crome, Girlguiding Bedfordshire County Commissioner said, ‘ We were delighted to work with the team at Wrest Park on this project and, it is marvellous that the partnership has come together.’  Ann added, ‘It is a unique opportunity for our members to explore a historic gem located right on their door step’.

Jenny Mayer, General Manager for Wrest Park said,
‘We couldn’t be more pleased to have welcomed the Bedfordshire Girl Guides to Wrest Park today and are delighted to be able to launch this exciting new project together.  At English Heritage we are committed to opening up our sites for local community groups to enjoy and we hope this will be the first step in a lasting partnership.’
Girlguiding is the UK’s largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with Girlguiding Bedfordshire having over 4,000 girls and young women members. Find out more at
